Finds from last Friday

Found this sweet little chick.  The colors are just so cheery.  I love the flowers on top of her head.  On the bottom it says it was made in Japan..  Could not leave it behind.

I was so excited when I spied these feed sacks.  It seems like I am not seeing them as much.  Warrenton is coming up and always find a few there.  The red and white crocheted pots holders remind me of Christmas peppermints.  They are going to look so cute among some Christmas decorations.

When I say these Betsy Ross paper dolls and they are in good condition I knew they had to come home with me.  The outfits is this paper doll set are so so cute.

I joined Cheryll's OASS at http://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com/  my partner was Carin at http://ullhrvan.blogspot.com/  she is so sweet.  Just look at the knitted scarf she sent me.  I tried to get the details in the pictures.

I love this scarf.  It is so soft and in my favorite color,

She also included these mug rugs and candies.  I am in purple/lavender heaven.  Thank you so much Carin for the beautiful gifts.  A big THANK YOU to Cheryll for being such a wonder swap momma.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful evening with there families.

My New Island

This is one of the latest pictures of my Duchess.  I can not believe how time is flying.  Not much sewing getting done here.  I went to an estate sale last Friday with Carla and Sharon.  The prices were really high and we did not find much.  On Saturday I went antiquing with my sister and my niece.  It was a great day.  My niece is in the Army and she is getting ready to go to over seas.  I am so proud of her but of course I HATE to see her go there.   My sister lives only about an hour away and we do not get to see each other very much and we had a blast.

When we went to Warrenton in the spring we found this enamel top table.  I thought this would make the perfect island for our kitchen.  My sweet David is finally getting time to add longer legs and a shelf on the bottom of it.  I wanted to keep it as original as possible and finding super cute legs has been a chore.

This is the end result.  Now all I have to do is paint it and clean it up.  I will show you more when I am finished.
It is time for bubbles and bed.  Hope y'all are having a great evening.

Hugs

Where did the weekend go?

This weekend has gone by so fast.  We got a little drier air a cold front came through and there was a nice breeze today but the temperature was still in the 90's.  I did a little cleaning up in our yard today.  Got a couple more bushes planted and some weeds pulled.

Here is another Granny square block.  These blocks are so much fun to make.  I think I have done a total of 5 so far.   I had a few more to show you but the photos did not come out to well.  It was starting to get dark outside so I will have to try again tomorrow.  I got a secret quilt quilted this weekend and a little bit of secret sewing done.  All I have to do on the quilt is trim it up and sew the binding on and down.

Hope y'all have a great week.

Granny Squares

Here are a couple of my granny squares that I have not trimmed up yet.  The top one is the first one I did.  The middle square is suppose to be a pink floral.  How I picked out most of the green I do not know.  I love how the lavender and the green look together.  So sorry about these pictures I had to use my tv since my block board is to small.  I guess I need to make a bigger one.  DUH!

I decided to use one of Darlene Zimmerman's block instructions out of her book Granny Quilt Decor.   Darlene's instructions are so easy and I am just in love with her books and her style.

This is the quilt that I quilted today.  It is a Raggedy Ann and Andy vintage sheet that I found at http://www.etsy.com/shop/alabamanana  I have only made one other whole cloth quilt.  Just could not bring myself to cut this one up.    The back is also a vintage sheet that I have in my shop.  I found a tag on it from Montgomery Ward.  Normally when I think of Raggedy Ann and Andy I think of red and white gingham.  But this one screams yellow to me.

I tried to get a closer look so you could see the quilting.  Heart and flowers was just what this sheet needed. Tomorrow I will sew the binding on it and I am thinking of using a red and white gingham.

Hope y'all enjoy Labor Day and be SAFE.
