Here are a couple of my granny squares that I have not trimmed up yet. The top one is the first one I did. The middle square is suppose to be a pink floral. How I picked out most of the green I do not know. I love how the lavender and the green look together. So sorry about these pictures I had to use my tv since my block board is to small. I guess I need to make a bigger one. DUH!
I decided to use one of Darlene Zimmerman's block instructions out of her book Granny Quilt Decor. Darlene's instructions are so easy and I am just in love with her books and her style.
This is the quilt that I quilted today. It is a Raggedy Ann and Andy vintage sheet that I found at http://www.etsy.com/shop/alabamanana I have only made one other whole cloth quilt. Just could not bring myself to cut this one up. The back is also a vintage sheet that I have in my shop. I found a tag on it from Montgomery Ward. Normally when I think of Raggedy Ann and Andy I think of red and white gingham. But this one screams yellow to me.
I tried to get a closer look so you could see the quilting. Heart and flowers was just what this sheet needed. Tomorrow I will sew the binding on it and I am thinking of using a red and white gingham.
Hope y'all enjoy Labor Day and be SAFE.
Hugs

Donna I love them. They are so cute with the gingham. I didn't know Darlene Zimmerman had them in a book. I need to check that out. Your quilt....to so sweet. Have a great day...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I am not the only one who loves Darlene Zimmerman's Granny Square. I have a quilt pattern of hers I hope to work on this fall. The pattern is called 'Almost A Flower Garden'. A free pattern from McCalls Quilting web site. I am pretty sure it is in their archive section as the pattern is from June 2003. But thanks for the heads up on the book, that I did not know about and will need to find.
ReplyDeleteLove your lavender and green block, I love those colors too. Your Ann and Andy quilt will be so adorable. Whole quilts are just about the only quilts I ever seem to finish. But I hope to change that.
Thanks for stopping by...I am slowing re-adding and re-following everyone with this new blog. Hopefully blogger with lay off this one;-)

I didn't know that was called a Granny Square! I only know crochet granny squares! They are beautiful! I can see the detail on your quilting the flowers and hearts. Do you have a free motion quilter? This is so gorgeous!!! And the vintage sheet, wow. I love the Ann and Andy. That is just so darn cute. Donna, you are just so talented.
