Quilt Sampler 2013 Block 10

Hello sweet chickadee's.

I can not believe Christmas is in 2 days.  How exciting is that?  I just love this time of year.

 On to Block 10

Cut 1 red 1 3/4 inch strip
Cut 1 white  1 3/4 inch strip.
Sew them together.

Remember to set your stitches, and press towards the red.

Cut 8 1 3/4 inch blocks from your strip.

This is the placement for the center of your block.

When your blocks are all sewn together this is what it will look like and measure 5 1/2 inches.  I had to square mine up a bit.

Cut 4 3 x 5 1/2 inch strips

Cut 8 3 inch squares.

Using your ruler draw a diagonal line on the back of your 3 inch squares.

You will place a 3 inch square on one corner of your 3 x 5 1/2 inch square and sew it diagonally.

Using your ruler trim leaving a 1/4 inch seam.

This is what your block will look like so far.

Do the same thing on the other side.

This is what your block will look like.
You will need 4

Sew 2 of the blocks to the top and bottom of your checker board block.

Cut 4  3 inch white squares.

Sew a white 3 inch square to the stop and bottom of your block.
Make 2

Sew one on the left side and right side of your block.

This is what your 10  1/2 inch block will look like.

I am thinking that I may post another block on Friday, so stay tuned.  We only have 2 more blocks left and I thought I would try and get them in this year?

I wish all of you safe and  very Merry Christmas.

Hugs
donna

  5. I just had to pop up to the sewing room and make this one for a table mat. I had just the perfect fabric. I only need to put a few quilting lines on and do the binding. Breakfast first.
