Louisiana Finds

Happy Monday.

Thought I would show you some of my finds from Louisiana.  The lady at the store told me these are oatmeal bowls.  When you bought oatmeal you got a bowl, cup, or little glass.  I wish we still had those days.  Wouldn't it be nice to open some oatmeal and get one of these great bowls?

I just love these cut outs, but they are so hard to find in good condition.  Score!  I also found the feed sack they are lying on.  I know one day I will get my feed sacks in my shop.  lol

Ok you know how I just love paper dolls?  I could not believe it when I found these Raggedy Ann and Andy paper dolls.  I was over the moon excited.  David had to come and see what all the commotion was.  lol.

This sewing basket is in perfect condition.  I just had to snatch it up.

Just look at the beautiful roses on the bottom.  I was thinking my machine embroidery thread would fit great in this sewing basket.  I have a yellow one just like it I keep my other threads in and I just love it.

Hope you have a great week and get to sew until your machine can not take it anymore.

  2. Hello sweet Donna, I am so glad you found such lovely things in Louisiana! It would be wonderful to still get dishes in oatmeal. I am thinking those must be from the depression era. What treasures! The sewing basket is fabulous. Enjoy all your goodies sweetie! Love, Paula xo

  13. Love the story of the oatmeal bowls; premiums were such a nice way for the women in the 40s and 50s to get new dishes!
