Quilt Market and My Story

Hello sweet people.
I have to say this was the best market ever.
Look who is coming out of retirement!
I finally got to meet Lynette Jensen from Thimbleberries.
She is the sweetest person and I am so blessed to have been able to really
 talk to her.
She is the reason I am quilting today.  Now I have been sewing
since I was young with my grandmother and I always picked
Home Ec in school just so I could sew.  But I had really wanted
to get into quilting.  Not sure how to start.
About 1997 or 1998 I can not remember we where in Katy
and came across a quilt store and my hubby was happy to
stop and let me go in.  They had a block of the month  program going
on.  Now I have never made a quilt or even pieced yet all I had done was
cloths and crafty projects.
I asked if I could start the block of the month, and they happily said yes.
I was so excitied I bought the block pattern and it came with the fabric
and everything,  I started with block 9 which is the house with the
white fence.  I remember not being able to wait to get home and start.
The pattern was so easy to follow that I had no problems piecing my first
block by myself.  So I went back for more, but I had to go backwards back
to block 1 - 8.
Now if you know me I am very visual and I am direction challenged.  lol
So if you are a beginner Lynette's patterns are very easy to follow.  So I
started to collect her books and patterns.

The name of the quilt is Thimbleberries Village.  This is the
very first quilt I made and the rest is history.  I have been piecing
and quilting every since.
Thank you so much Lynette for making your patterns easy to follow.

We attended some school houses while at market.
That is where you go to different classes and learn
about new thinks that are out.
One of the school houses was about Erin's book
at Why Not Sew?  It was great getting to hear
all about her book.

We also listened to Darlene Zimmerman speak on her
new line Morningside Farm and on feedsacks.
This is was here booth at market.

Here is Pat Sloan taking about her new line and book.

I got a picture of some of the Moda Designers getting
ready for the fashion show at school house.  Each
one designed a row and Moda has a book coming out
that will have the rows in it to make a row quilt.

I was so happy to meet Bonnie and Camille with moda.
They are showing there Vintage Picnic.
I have some fat quarter bundles coming.

Bunny Hill is coming out with the cutest Halloween
fabric for next year.

Andover is doing a Little House On The Prairie
line.  This is the real Nellie Olsen from the Little
House On The Prairie movies that we all used to watch as kids.
She has a book out and was selling copies.

Lecien Flower Sugar Christmas will be here in April 2016

I was so happy to finally see some vintagey Christmas coming
out.  I am not sure of the name of this line but it too will
be here April 2016

Hope you liked my little tour of Market?

Wishing you a wonderful and blessed day.

Hugs
donna

  5. I loved your quilt market tour, thanks for sharing! I was lucky to have visited Lynette's quilt shop before she sold it. It was lovely and she had so many quilts hanging for inspiration, plus all her lovely fabrics. I love the Little House on the Prairie books and shows. Some of the quilts on the shows were adorable, I wish they would reproduce some of them. I especially like the one in season 3 Halloween episode on Carries bed. You can really see the great colors in the new remastered DVD's, I love the vintage Christmas fabric too! Especially the deer, snowmen and kittens. Let us know if you get some in your shop. Have a lovely day!
