Quilt Sampler 2013 Block 7

Hello, are y'all ready for block 7?

Cut 2  white 5 1/2 inch squares
Cut 2 pink 5 1/2 inch squares
and 4 2 1/2 inch squares from the same pink as your 5 1/2 inch squares.

Using your ruler draw a diagonal line on your pink 2 1/2 inch squares.  I used a pencil so you could see the lines, but you may want to use something that disappears.

Sew a 2 1/2 inch square to the corner of each 5 1/2 inch square.  Using a 1/4 inch seam.
(See placement below)

This is how your 2 1/2 inch squares should look on the 5 1/2 inch squares.

Trim using 1/4 inch.
Do not forget to set your seams by pressing.

Press open so that it makes a square

This is what it should look like after you pressed each block.  Each block should measure 5 1/2 inches.
Sew a white 5 1/2 inch block to a pink 5 1/2 inch block.
Sew a pink 5 1/2 inch block to a white 5 1/2 inch block.
Then sew them  together.

Your block should measure 10 1/2 inches.

For the sashing cut a 2 1/2 by 10 1/2 strip and sew it on the side of  block 1
press, then sew block 2 on.
Sew 2 1/2 inch by 10 1/2 inch strip to block 2, press and sew on block 3

For the sashing  in between the rows.
Sew a 2 1/2 by 10 1/2 white strip to a pink 2 1/2 inch square,
sew 2 1/2 by 10 1/2 white strip to the end of the pink 2 1/2 inch square.
now sew another 2 1/2 inch pink square to the white strip
and sew a 2 1/2 inch by 10 1/2 inch white strip to the pink 2 1/2 inch square.
Sew onto the bottom of blocks 1 - 3
( See the picture below for placement.)
I'm thinking I should find a better design board.

Your blocks and shasing should look like this.  Continue with the rest of your blocks.

Hope you enjoyed making this block as much as I did.

Hugs,
donna
