Hot Summer Days

I have been busy in the yard off and on all weekend.  The sun will just melt you.  This time of year the plants go on sale and it is when I buy them.  You are never going to believe I got knock out roses from $2 to $4 a piece.  SCORE!  I dug up my day lilies and planted some bushes I got on sale 70% off.  It is time to have low maintenance  in some areas.  The weeds are horrible and make the day lily bed look bad.   Got them all planted in time and ran out of mulch.  While I was cleaning up you could see the rain coming.   I got lucky as I was getting in the shower it started to pour.   So glad it rained we really need it and it kissed my newly planted plants.

One on my sweet friends Carla and I had lunch about a week and a half ago and look what she brought me. Oh yes that is a feed sack and I am in love.  It is just gorgeous.   She had bought an extra Vintage Style magazine and shared it with me.  There are some really cute things in there.  When I got home and was unloading my bag of goodies I spied some bobbins for my quilt machine.  Thank you so much Carla you are so sweet.

Look what I got in the mail.  Amy from http://www.aquiltingsheep.com/ sent these to me.  They are so sweet with the lavender and yellow embroidery.  Amy you know what I like.  You really need to visit her blog and see the quilt she is making.  Thank you so much Amy you are a sweet heart.

It is starting to look a lot like Christmas.  I am in Cheryll's at http://santasackswap.blogspot.com/ Santa Sack swap.  You can visit her and see what everyone is doing.   Nana B. at http://stitchingbythebeach.blogspot.com/ is my swap partner and just look at what she sent me.  I am having to have a lot of control not to peek and if you know me you know that is hard for me.  But it is all going to be worth it at Christmas to have wonderful SURPRISES.  Thank you so much Anne for all your sweetness.

Just take a look at these Christmas treasures.  Erica at http://goldeneggvintage.blogspot.com/ was having having a sale for her friends.   I got the chance to buy these.  I adore each and every piece.  Thank you so much Erica.

Well back to work tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a wonderful week.

Hugs,

  2. Hi Donna, I ordered one of those boxes from Erica, too....wasn't the stuff inside dreamy? Your feed sack fabric and those linens are to die for. I don't think I've ever mentioned to you, but my mom's favorite color is purple, in every hue/shade possible, too.

    Hugs,
    Meri

  3. I can't imagine being out in the garden here-it's about 106. I can't wait for fall. You're lucky to have gotten some rain. What pretty gifts and treasures you have. Love the feedsack fabric!

  5. I'm glad you like the little gift. A few years ago, I found a lovely table cloth with the flowers stitchings on them at a thrift shop, but the table cloth had some serious stains, thus I cut the pretty part off, thinking I would use them for something, stuck them in the drawer and forgot them. When I found them the other day, I know you had to have them because they were your colors. =) You are talented enough to figure out something to do with them...

  7. Hi Donna-
Your gifts from Carla and Amy are very sweet. Nothing like a good magazine, and some embroidery to make a girl happy!
I had to giggle when I saw that you included the little piece of red and white string in the photo. When I wrapped each box I thought..."Just watch, they won't toss this out! They'll be resourceful and re-use it"! And sure enough! HaHa!!!

  9. Hello my dear, all right? I answered your e-mail, ok? Rain is very good in the summer, refreshes, but in winter is very bad, everything else is frozen. Here we are cold in the mornings, the afternoon heat and cold nights, and because it is winter here and the heat is very strong in the afternoons. Its beautiful pictures, I loved it. Have a blessed day. hugs Luciana
